Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 5, 2026

CalJab ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password (encrypted). Optionally, you may provide your name, age, gender, height, and weight to enable personalized calorie targets.

Nutrition Data: Food logs, meal photos (processed by AI and not permanently stored on our servers as images), water intake, weight entries, and related nutrition information you choose to log.

Health Data: If you grant permission, we read step count, active calories, and body mass from Apple HealthKit. We never write to HealthKit without your explicit action. We do not sell or share HealthKit data with third parties.

Medication Data: If you use GLP-1 tracking features, injection dates, sites, doses, and side effects are stored securely in your account.

Usage Data: Basic app events (e.g., feature usage counts) to improve the app. No advertising identifiers are collected.

2. How We Use Your Information

3. AI Processing

When you scan a food photo or use voice logging, the data is sent to our secure server (Supabase Edge Functions) which forwards it to OpenAI's API for processing. Photos are converted to analysis results and are not stored as images. AI-generated nutrition data is cached to reduce costs and improve speed.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers located in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Row-level security ensures you can only access your own data. We use no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

5. Third-Party Services

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@caljab.app. Upon deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

CalJab is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You may also request a copy of your data in a portable format. Contact us at support@caljab.app to exercise these rights.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
