Storing your pen and travelling

Storage rules depend on the brand and type of pen, so check the leaflet that comes with yours. ³ Pens you haven't started go in the fridge at 2 to 8 °C and must not be frozen. ^1·2 Keep Wegovy away from the fridge's cooling element. ¹

Wegovy

• Single-dose pen: it can be kept out of the fridge for up to 28 days, at no more than 30 °C. ¹ Keep it in its carton to protect it from light. ¹
• FlexTouch pen: after first use you can keep it for 6 weeks, below 30 °C or in the fridge. ¹ Keep the cap on when you're not using it. ¹
• Don't use it if it has been frozen or the solution isn't clear and colourless. ¹ Throw a single-dose pen away if it has been above 30 °C or out of the fridge for more than 28 days. ¹
• Wegovy tablets don't need any special temperature; keep them in the original package to protect them from light and moisture. ¹

Mounjaro

• Single-dose pen or vial: it can be kept out of the fridge below 30 °C for up to 21 days in total; after that it must be thrown away. ² Keep it in the original packaging to protect it from light. ²
• KwikPen: after first use, keep it in the fridge or below 30 °C, and throw it away 30 days after first use. ²
• Don't use it if it has been frozen or is damaged, or if the medicine is cloudy, discoloured or has particles in it; it should be colourless to slightly yellow. ²

Needles

With FlexTouch and KwikPen, use a new needle for each injection and don't store the pen with a needle attached. ^1·2

When you travel

• Carry your pens in your hand luggage, in the original packaging, with a copy of your prescription and a letter from your prescriber. ⁵
• Check storage needs before you go; you may need a way to keep them cool on the way. ⁵
• If you're flying, contact the airline in advance about carrying injectable medicines. ⁵
• Rules for bringing medicines into a country vary, and some countries need specific permission. ⁵
• If travel makes your usual day hard, you can change your injection day as long as at least 3 days have passed since your last injection. ^3·4
• If you miss a dose, take Wegovy if it's 5 days or less since it was due, or Mounjaro if it's 4 days or less. ^3·4 Otherwise skip it, and never take 2 doses together to make up for it. ^3·4
